For each country participating in the competition, a jury member has been nominated for their political and social engagement on energy saving. The Jury is formed by Members of the European Parliament (MEP) who advocate energy efficiency, renewable energy and climate protection in their constituency as well as at a European level. Apart from supporting and promoting the project in their own country, the jury have been involved in defining and finalising the award criteria for the competition.
Our UK Jury member is Graham Watson, MEP
"By working at EU-level we have been able to set ambitious targets for the reduction of carbon emissions. However, if we are to achieve these goals and prevent catastrophic climate change, we cannot simply rely on government rules and laws. Every European citizen will have to play their part too.
The ECCC is an impressive initiative that highlights the massive savings a household can make when they reduce their carbon footprint. But most importantly it will provide my constituents with the opportunity to banish the memory of England's atrocious world cup performance and restore some national pride
